Description: Contract C is the second of five contracts that will create the 18.8-mile Intercounty Connector (ICC), which will connect the I-270/I-370 corridor in Montgomery County to the I-95/US1 corridor in Prince George’s County. The work will also include building two miles of collector/distributor roads along Interstate 95 and a pair of interchanges. Work has already started on the first phase of the ICC, a seven-mile stretch that starts at Interstate 370 in Rockville and ends at MD 97, Georgia Avenue. The entire 18-mile toll road is scheduled to be finished in late 2011 or early 2012. Work on Contract C began on March 3, 2008. Hillis-Carnes is providing geotechnical engineering services for two high speed interchanges, 19 bridges, retaining/sound barrier walls, stormwater management facilities, and numerous smaller structures, embankments, roadway cut areas, and pavement design. Other services to be provided by Hillis-Carnes include: materials testing and inspection, exploration drilling, insitu testing, geophysical surveys, and laboratory testing and analysis.
