Employee Referral Bonus Program

 HCEA is always looking for great people, and you can help. Research has shown, and our own experience supports, that hires who come into our organization through employee referrals are excellent contributors, stay with us longer and are more cost effective to recruit. If you know someone who you think would be a great addition to our organization and they meet the qualifications for an existing open FULL-TIME position, you could be eligible for bonus payout outlined in the program guidelines listed below.

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The following active FULL-TIME employees are eligible to participate, with the following guidelines:

Hourly Construction Material Testing, Construction/Drilling and Non-salaried Administrative/Business Development staff are eligible to receive the following:

  • $800 referral bonus for a referral and hire of a full-time hourly Construction Material Testing, Construction/Drilling and Non-salaried Administrative/Business Development employee. Referral bonus for these positions is paid as follows: $400 after the referred employee has successfully completed 90 days of employment; the remaining $400 after the active referred employee has successfully completed one full year of employment. Both employees (referral and referee) must be actively employed at the time the bonus is paid out.
  • $2500 referral bonus for a referral and hire of a full-time salaried Professional Engineer (non-PE), Project Manager, Salaried Administrative/Business Development or other management positions). Referral bonus for these positions is paid as follows: $500 after the active employee referred has successfully completed 90 days of employment; the remaining $2,000 after the referred employee has successfully completed one full year of employment. Both employees (referral and referee) must be actively employed at the time the bonus is paid out.
  • $5,000 referral bonus for a referral and hire of a full-time salaried Branch Manager, Executive, Professional Engineer (PE) or other senior management Referral bonus for these positions is paid as follows: $1,000 after the active employee referred has successfully completed 90 days of employment; the remaining $4,000 after the referred employee has successfully completed one full year of employment. Both employees (referral and referee) must be actively employed at the time the bonus is paid out.

Salaried* employees are eligible to receive the following:

  • $2500 referral bonus for a referral and hire of a full-time salaried Professional Engineer (non-PE), Project Manager, Salaried Administrative/Business Development or other management positions). Referral bonus for these positions is paid as follows: $500 after the active employee referred has successfully completed 90 days of employment; the remaining $2,000 after the referred employee has successfully completed one full year of employment. Both employees (referral and referee) must be actively employed at the time the bonus is paid out.
  • $5,000 referral bonus for a referral and hire of a full-time salaried Branch Manager, Executive, Professional Engineer (PE) or other senior management Referral bonus for these positions is paid as follows: $1,000 after the active employee referred has successfully completed 90 days of employment; the remaining $4,000 after the referred employee has successfully completed one full year of employment. Both employees (referral and referee) must be actively employed at the time the bonus is paid out.

*Branch Managers and Division Managers are only eligible for referrals of salaried Project Managers or above to other profit centers.


How do I refer a candidate for full-time employment?

  •  To be eligible, the recruitment process must be proactive and must be explained. You need to make proactive efforts (initiate a call, email or discussion) to be eligible. Accepting a phone call or email from a prospective employee would not make you eligible.
  • Hourly positions: The applicant must include the referring employee’s full name on the application on or before the interview stage.
  • Salaried positions: The applicant’s name must be presented to the hiring manager and/or HR prior to receiving their resume and before the interview stage.
  • Human Resources staff are ineligible for the referral program.

All candidates will be evaluated for employment consistent with HCEA’s policies and procedures, and all information regarding the hiring decision will remain strictly confidential.
