Hillis-Carnes Named 2026 GBA Safety in Practice Photo Contest Winner

Congratulations to our COO, Karl Higgins, P.E., whose photo was selected as the Safety in Practice Category Winner in the Geoprofessional Business Association’s (GBA) 2026 Photo and Video Contest!

Karl’s winning photo captured a Hillis-Carnes drill crew in action, showcasing the importance of thoughtful planning, proper PPE, organized work areas, and proactive hazard prevention in maintaining a safe jobsite.

Under the leadership of Mike Hillis, the crew demonstrated an outstanding commitment to safety while operating three Hillis-Carnes drill rigs on a large-scale project. Their attention to detail, preparation, and safe work practices exemplify the safety-first mindset we strive to uphold on every project.

Congratulations to Karl, Mike, and the entire drill crew! We’re proud to see their dedication to safety recognized by GBA and to celebrate the people who put safety into practice every day.
